Are you a passionate History Teacher eager to inspire and cultivate a love for history in young minds? The Malling School, recognised as a Good school with aspects graded Outstanding by Ofsted, is seeking a dedicated History Teacher to join our vibrant team.

The History Department:
The History department is essential in developing students’ understanding of the past and its relevance today. We foster critical thinking, thorough analysis, and a passion for exploring diverse perspectives. With efficient assessment and feedback strategies, we maximise student progress while respecting teachers’ time. Weekly subject-specific CPD sessions and collaboration with external partners ensure continuous professional growth and keep our department at the forefront of educational innovation.

As a Teacher of History, you will:
• Teach History, engaging students up to and including Key Stage 5 (KS5).
• Participate in a tailored professional development programme.
• Benefit from robust behaviour management systems.
• Take part in a personalised induction programme, including coaching, Developmental Learning Walks, and ongoing feedback.
• Play a significant role in shaping and enhancing the evolving History curriculum.
• Assume additional departmental responsibilities, with a Teaching and Learning Responsibility (TLR) available for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will:
• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with the ability to teach History to KS3 and GCSE levels (experience beyond GCSE is advantageous).
• Demonstrate innovative teaching practices and reflective pedagogy.
• Possess a track record of achieving excellent results in History for students.
• Be driven by a passion to make a meaningful impact on young lives.
• Bring enthusiasm and a values-driven approach to History education.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people. Successful candidates will be subject to an Enhanced DBS disclosure, an Occupational Health check, two satisfactory references, an online verification, and, where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check. Information about the school

A mixed 11-19 co-educational High School of 1,000 pupils serving the historic market town of West Malling and surrounding villages. The school is set in pleasant rural surroundings and has its own lake and extensive grounds.

West Malling is close to the county town of Maidstone and has excellent rail links to London and Ashford
