Shape Young Minds at EKC Sheppey Secondary: Join Our Year 7 Teaching Team!

Are you a passionate KS2 primary educator seeking a dynamic challenge? This is your chance to make a lasting impact on the lives of young learners,  as they embark on their secondary school adventure.

At EKC Sheppey Secondary, we build on the very best of primary practice. Year 7 Class teachers guide students through a full timetable and exciting curriculum, ensuring students' passion for subjects—the classics, English, Maths, and Science, and favourites like History, Geography, ICT, and Sports—matches their own.

Why join our team?

  • Be at the Forefront of Innovation: Contribute to shaping the future of our school and its Year 7 curriculum.
  • Ignite a Passion for Learning: As a Year 7 class teacher, develop and deliver engaging lessons that spark intellectual curiosity and inspire academic achievement in our purpose design Year 7 ‘Voyager’ Building.
  • Become a Student Champion: Build positive relationships with all students, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Embrace Collaboration: Join a team of passionate educators dedicated to continuous improvement and knowledge-sharing.
  • Invest in Your Growth: Benefit from ongoing professional development opportunities to stay at the forefront of your field.
  • Thrive in a Supportive Environment: Enjoy a collaborative working atmosphere that prioritises your well-being.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Is working towards or holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Demonstrates exceptional communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
  • Champions inclusivity and fosters a positive learning environment for all.
  • Thrives in a collaborative setting while also demonstrating strong independent work skills.
  • Maintains a strong commitment to professional development.

We prioritise staff well-being by scheduling the majority of lessons before lunchtime. This allows Year 7 teachers the flexibility to utilise their Planning, Preparation, and Assessment (PPA) time to leave early whenever feasible. We complement this with a competitive salary and benefits package, and we are committed to being an equal opportunities employer.

If you're a passionate educator ready to embark on a rewarding adventure, we encourage you to apply!

EKC Sheppey Secondary is an equal opportunities employer.

COMPLETED APPLICATIONS SHOULD BE EMAILED TO: office@ekcss.org.

Information about the school

This is your chance to be part of a brand-new school which is transforming secondary education on the Isle of Sheppey.

We nurture every student's unique spark and provide them with a first-class education tailored to meet their needs, regardless of their starting points, backgrounds, abilities, or beliefs. EKC Sheppey Secondary opened in September 2024 to students from Years 7-9, with Years 10 and 11 forming as our students move through to KS4.

Every aspect of EKCSS has been designed to blend the best from across sectors. So, whilst setting the highest standards for secondary education, we're rewriting the rules with a look, feel and approach that is deliberately different from a standard secondary school.

Our strong and supportive senior leadership team prioritises purpose over paperwork and value-adding activity over box-ticking, freeing you up to do what matters most: nurturing bright futures.

We are proud to be part of EKC Schools Trust, known for its innovation and empowering schools to meet the unique needs of their communities. As part of the wider EKC family, we, alongside our sister organisation, the East Kent Colleges Group, have a strong and successful relationship with young people and families on the Isle of Sheppey. The EKC Family is a unique and sector-leading partnership; together, we run the Island's only outstanding provisions – Queenborough Primary School and Nursery and EKC Sheppey College – and raising the aspiration of all within the communities we serve drives our work.

The approach and delivery model in our organisations have successfully addressed behaviour, created a culture of success, and are places where staff are extremely proud and happy to work. We will be bringing all this expertise, culture, ethos, and curriculum approaches to EKCSS.

We haven't just opened a school, we are forging a learning community where students and staff thrive… where belonging meets brilliance!
