Advert

Towers School and Sixth Form Centre is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate Drama teacher to support the growth of its outstanding Drama provision. Towers School Performing Arts have an enviable reputation for producing high quality theatrical productions and for the strength of our performance community.

Our 220-seat proscenium arch theatre - The Rylance Theatre - houses an average of 25 performances per year as well as being a comprehensive teaching space for Drama. It was recently upgraded and now boasts a cutting-edge lighting rig and full LED technology. We provide a huge range of performance opportunities, extra-curricular clubs, theatre trips and outreach programmes which have helped to build Drama at Towers into an achievable pathway into industry, and recently secured us the coveted Platinum ArtsMark status.

Drama is a popular and aspirational subject at Towers School and we are looking to grow our team to accommodate additional Drama classes across KS3, KS4 and KS5. Dependent on experience, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach across all Key Stages. We also deliver the Arts Award (Bronze through to Gold). Experience in delivering the OCR GCSE Drama qualification and the Cambridge Technical in Performing Arts would be advantageous, but not essential.

The successful candidate will be a confident and vibrant performer, but will also have a strong knowledge of acting theory, theatre history and contemporary performance. All teaching and learning at Towers School is underpinned by a belief in the power of a modern, knowledge driven curriculum. We also take pride in leading in education programmes with our associate partners like the RSC, the NT and the Jasmin Vardimon Dance Company, and the successful candidate will be able to take advantage of CPD opportunities with all of our partners.

As a Performing Arts team, we are driven by our commitment to providing outstanding creative and cultural opportunities to all of our pupils and our school's wider community. Our extra-curricular provision is at the heart of our community and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to this whole-heartedly. Our clubs and enrichment opportunities will form a key part of the successful applicants role and we are therefore looking for an individual who is passionate about theatre inside and outside of the timetabled curriculum.

All applicants will be considered, including those who can demonstrate outstanding potential at an early stage in their career. It is expected that the successful candidate will hold Qualified Teaching Status or equivalent. We would consider candidates who are unqualified if they hold sufficient experience in Drama and Theatre outside of an education setting.

Towers School is committed to Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and requires all staff and volunteers to share and demonstrate this commitment.
