We are looking for a caring and friendly individual to work 1:1 with a KS1 child in our school. The pupil has significant speech and language needs as well as autism and works within a year 1 class as well as accessing the Early Years learning environment. The 1:1 support will facilitate this, working with and guided by the class teacher to give the best opportunities for success. The pupil is a delightful individual who does not present with challenging behaviour but their communication skills are limited. Previous working with young SEN pupils would be an advantage but is not essential. The successful applicant will be working within a supportive team and will be supporting the child to access the curriculum. Ideally we are looking for someone to work for three days a week, from 8:40am to 3:15pm, and there maybe flexibility with the days of the week worked.

This role would suit an enthusiastic applicant willing to learn and keen to take on this responsibility as well as somebody with school based experience, particularly working with children with special educational needs. However, primarily we are looking for someone with a kind, patient and empathetic nature, as well as being able work with others in our small and friendly school. Team work and collaborative working is crucial to our school’s success and for each pupil achieving the best they can.
