Are you passionate about education and supporting young people?

We are looking for dedicated individuals to join our Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Programme for vacancies based in Dartford & Gravesend. This apprenticeship offers a fantastic opportunity to gain practical experience and qualifications while working in schools and academies, supporting teachers and making a real difference in students' lives.

Programme Description:

As a Teaching Assistant apprentice, you will support the work of teaching and non-teaching staff, ensuring the best possible education for all students, particularly those with special educational needs (SEN). You will learn how to create an inclusive and nurturing environment, working alongside experienced professionals in the Education Sector.

Apprenticeship Structure:

  • Duration: 22 months
  • Blended Learning: 6 hours per week of structured learning, combining online sessions and off-site training at Leigh Academies Trust locations, during term time.
  • End Point Assessment (EPA):
    • Build a portfolio throughout the course.
    • 90-minute classroom observation.
    • 90-minute professional discussion, focused on the knowledge and behaviours of a Teaching Assistant.

What You’ll Need:

  • Eligibility Requirements:
    • Must have lived in the UK for the past 3 years.
    • Achieved a Grade 4/C in English and Maths GCSE or equivalent (Level 2 Functional Skills). If you're close to these grades, we still encourage you to apply as we can offer support through functional skills courses.
    • Willingness to commute via public transport or car (we aim to keep commutes under 60 minutes where possible).

Key Qualities We’re Looking For:

  • A passion for working with children and young people, especially those with special educational needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently when required.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Commitment to creating a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Benefits of the Apprenticeship:

  • Gain hands-on experience in real classroom settings.
  • Achieve a nationally recognised Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
  • Receive full support and guidance, including preparation for the End Point Assessment.
  • Make a positive impact in the lives of young people.
