Information about the school

St Nicholas CE Primary Academy is situated in the heart of New Romney, surrounded by beautiful grounds and equipped with excellent resources to support its 15 classes and more than 420 pupils. Our over-subscribed and well-maintained school was judged Good with Outstanding features by Ofsted in May 2019 and again in 2024.

We are proud to have a committed and enthusiastic team of staff who are dedicated to enabling every child to reach their full potential. We provide a stable, caring and stimulating environment where children are happy, eager to learn and inspired to achieve their best. Our curriculum and ethos cater for a wide range of abilities, encouraging all pupils to thrive and succeed.

As a Church of England school, we have a strong Christian ethos and close links with St Nicholas Church in New Romney. These connections enrich our collective worship and underpin our school values.

We are fortunate to have an outstanding private nursery on site, which also offers breakfast and after-school club provision, as well as a Children’s Centre, further supporting our families and the wider community.

Our academy is also home to a Specialist Resource Provision (SRP)—a 14-place provision for children with an Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) designation. This inclusive setting sits within the mainstream academy, ensuring children benefit from both specialist and integrated learning experiences. St Nicholas also proudly holds the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) Centre of Excellence Award.

Located in the ancient Cinque Port of New Romney, our school enjoys a rural Kent setting with excellent transport links: just 20 minutes to Ashford, 30 minutes to Folkestone, 45 minutes to Canterbury, and around 45 minutes from Hastings for those travelling from East Sussex.

We warmly invite you to visit our school and experience first-hand the unique qualities that make St Nicholas CE Primary Academy such a special place to learn and grow.

At St Nicholas CE Primary Academy, safeguarding is at the heart of all we do.
