The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all children, particularly those with additional needs, receive the tailored support they require to thrive in our inclusive setting.  You will have overall responsibility to lead and manage SEN and inclusion across the school, developing and implementing curriculum and education programmes structured towards our SEN children ensuring there is a continual focus on the quality of the education provision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Part of the SLT with leadership responsibilities.
  • Oversee and manage the provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across the school.
  • Develop and implement IEPs and EHCPs and ensure they are regularly reviewed and updated.
  • Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external professionals to ensure that appropriate interventions and support are in place for students with SEND.
  • Support class teachers in writing provision maps and carry out analysis of class data.
  • Monitor and track the progress of students with SEND, providing regular reports to the Headteachers and governors and leading pupil progress reviews.
  • Lead training sessions and provide guidance to staff on inclusive teaching strategies and SEND best practices.
  • Build positive relationships with parents and carers, offering support and guidance as needed.
  • Stay informed about the latest developments in SEND policy and practice, ensuring the school remains compliant and adopts best practices.
  • Provide supervision for staff in EYFS.

About You:

  • Extensive experience in a SENCO role.
  • Excellent class teacher (this is not a class-based role) with QTS and NASENCO qualification.
  • Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, governors and external agencies.
  • A commitment to inclusive education and a passion for supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage a varied workload efficiently.

What We Offer:

  • A supportive and friendly working environment in a beautiful semi-rural setting.
  • The chance to work with a fabulously experienced team which includes a number of highly trained teaching assistants.

Information about the school

St Katharine's Knockholt Primary School is a thriving, warm and welcoming school where pastoral care is at the forefront of everything we do. We build close relationships with our pupils and their families and this gives us the bedrock from which we can work with our children to help them all achieve their potential and make their school days happy, fulfilling and purposeful. This nurturing environment is extended to our staff team where we pride ourselves on looking after our teachers and support staff in the same way as we do our pupils, resulting in a very low staff turnover (our current SENCO has been with us for 21 years and is only leaving us because she is retiring!).

St Katharine’s Knockholt CEPS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the care and welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. References and an enhanced DBS check will be required by the successful candidate.
