We are looking for a flexible, highly effective, efficient and organised Attendance/Admin Assistant

Your working days would be Monday, Wednesday and Thursday - 8.45 a.m. - 3.15 p.m. (with an hour lunch break) Term Time only + one staff development day

This post requires a good standard of education but more importantly an attitude which is positive and supportive.

Core responsibilities will focus on all matters regarding attendance and its recording, management and monitoring.  The successful candidate will be required to monitor the taking of registers, record student absences and late arrivals on Arbor. provide updates on attendance for the whole school and act as an initial point of contact for parents/carers.

As the first point of contact for our parents, pupils and visitors, you will need to offer a friendly, professional and confidential welcome while carrying out a range of office duties to assist the office team in the daily running of the school office.  This will include duties such as, the typing of newletters, sending information to parents/carers regarding various activities throughout the school year, using our current systems, plus other office duties.

Previous office administrative experience is essential, preferably within a school environment or equivalent and applicants must demonstrate a good knowledge of safeguarding requirements for working with children.  The ideal candidate will be proficient with IT including Microsoft packages such as Outlook, Excel and Word and Onedrive.   Knowledge of Arbor and Kent School Admissions Module (SAM) would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be given.

  • The ability to administer medicines and First Aid (for which training will be provided); 
  • A willingness to develop their IT skills further to cope with the ever changing nature of this role 
  • The ability to work efficiently and to deadlines;
  • The skills to work under pressure and to use own initiative;
  • The ability to observe and respect confidentiality;
  • Be an excellent team player and offer support and flexibility to your colleagues.

Herne C.E. (Aided) Junior School is a well-respected and oversubscribed school in the village of Herne.
