Leigh Academy Rainham now has an exciting opportunity to appoint a Cover Supervisor to join their dedicated team to provide full support to the staff and students from September 2024. The successful candidate will ensure the good behaviour of our students and make sure students engage in their learning during short-term absence of teachers. Cover work will be supplied wherever possible for you to use as a basis for the lessons and we will also determine your subject specialisms with you as a preference. The successful candidate will be required to respond to students' general questions and provide feedback to the teacher on broad issues such as behaviour. They will not generally be expected to undertake any planning, preparation or assessment of students progress and/or development unless there is a long term absence and it is felt with additional support they can do so.

Excellent interpersonal skills are required for this post as our successful candidates need to demonstrate that they can build good rapport with staff and students alike. This post is ideal for graduates with an interest in developing a career in teaching as the experience you can gain from this is first-hand, and also those who may have had experience within the education sector beforehand.

This is a permanent opportunity working 37 hours per week, Term Time only with an actual salary of £19,036 - £22,624 per annum (£22,714 - £27,007 full-time equivalent). The working hours are 8.00am - 4.00pm, with a 3.30pm finish on Wednesday.

Information about the school

Opened in September 2021 with 180 founding students, our co-educational comprehensive school for 11–18-year-olds is already oversubscribed and positioned to become a beacon of excellence in Medway. We place each student’s wellbeing and success at the centre of all we do, fostering a belief in their limitless potential. Through a broad, balanced, and inclusive curriculum, we offer a personalised and challenging education for every learner, regardless of background or starting point. Our aim is to develop inquiring, compassionate, and culturally aware young adults, equipped with the skills, knowledge, and values to thrive personally, contribute to their community, and lead in tomorrow’s world.

Our strong learning community works together and shares the value of collaboration; every member of our academy family works together to achieve success, cultivating a strong sense of belonging. Our belief in human-scale education, delivered through our college model, ensures every one of our students is known and valued. Strong pastoral care is at the heart of our academy and we place great importance on building strong partnerships with parents and carers.

Working in a brand new school is a unique opportunity. A flexible approach with a can-do ethos is required, as is drive, grit and boundless enthusiasm. We will be looking to recruit a staff body that has a multitude of talents to enable us to provide a rich academic and co-curricular offer from the outset and look forward to hearing what additional skills, talents and interests you could bring to a role at the Academy. A sense of humour is also essential!
