Brogdale CIC is looking for Maths & English Tutors as we look to expand our FS delivery.  The role will require you inspiring and teaching young people who have special educational needs and or mental health concerns. We are looking for a teacher who has the ability to bring English, Maths and ICT to life for young people who will traditionally have seen themselves as failing at school or who may find it challenging to access education.  The role would entail delivering the English / Maths delivery across our sites with liaison between other functional skills tutors and the subject tutors. You will need to be able to deliver lessons aimed at a mixed cohort of learners from Entry Level to Level 2. We are looking to find creative ways to embed the learning into the everyday subjects to seamlessly link functional skills to practical everyday life. 

Craftworks College as part of the Brogdale CIC Group works across 6 sites delivering education to  disadvantaged and disabled young people in Swale and Ashford.  For a little company there is a lot going on and we have been developing our college offer.  The applicant will need to have an appropriate teaching qualification, relevant teaching experience,  be computer literate and be able to self manage and work as part of a team.

We have several positions open from part time to 5 days per week.  If working 5 days you will teach for 4 days with one day paid planning.  Part time staff are paid for planning in addition to working hours. Tutors work 09.00 - 17.00 per day and our students attend from 10.00 - 15.15.

Information about the federation

Craftworks College, part of the Brogdale CIC group, is an independent specialist college which is based in Kent. It was initially called Brogdale Community Interest Company however became its own separate charity operating with the Brogdale CIC group in January 2021. The college has 6 sites, 3 in Ashford comprising of Food with Friends café which is situated inside a government Gateway Plus building in central Ashford, Stourside Farm, which is located on the Wyvern School site for SEND and Muddy Wellies community farm which is in Smeeth. Two sites are in Faversham, Brogdale Farm the original site located within the home of the National Fruit Collection and a Georgian and Victorian Walled Garden in Faversham. The main office and other site is Culnells Farm in Iwade. Many of the sites are rural to support the provision of local services to young people who live in those communities.

The college provides education and training to young people aged 16 to 25 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), including mental health needs.

There are 91 learners aged 16-24 on study programmes studying vocational qualifications from Entry Level to Level 2. Learners study a range of subjects, including Practical Horticulture, Creative Craft, Food and Cookery and Farm Animal Care. All students have English and Maths lessons, Personal Development Sessions and interventions to support their access to learning, all students are given the opportunity to access Enrichment activities and work experience.
