Advert

You will work as part of a team to plan and deliver a wide range of extra-curricular activities for learners with EHCP’s to meet their specified outcomes and facilitate greater independence, enabling learners in receipt of high needs funding and those with declared support needs to access learning and College facilities, aiding retention and achievement.

MidKent College is an inclusive institution offering a broad curriculum with extensive support for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Our Enhance program provides a specialist wraparound support offer, facilitating students' transition to college and supporting their Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes. This five-day-a-week provision is designed for students with significant barriers to learning, enabling them to access both the Progression Curriculum and mainstream college courses. Students benefit from a dual curriculum model, personalised timetables, and high support ratios.

Our dedicated team employs specialist approaches, including Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT), Occupational Therapy (OT), and Zones of Regulation, in a secure base room environment. The program focuses on developing resilience, autonomy, independence, employability, and social communication skills. Each student's support needs are assessed prior to enrolment, and a bespoke support package is designed to foster increasing independence. Typically a one-year offer, the Specialist Provision is exclusively for students with an EHCP, after which they are supported within the wider college environment.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for the planning and delivery of organised workshops, to learners with additional needs. You will play a key role in the learners success, achievement and progress, and centre the workshops around their individual needs.

Subjects covered will include exam skills, social skills, study skills, life skills and employability skills. You will also work closely with the rest of the Additional Learning Support Team, planning the delivery of extra-curricular activities for learners with EHCP's, to meet their specified outcomes.

All posts would be contracted to work 40 weeks per year, 37 hours per week.
