School Receptionist & Admin Assistant

37 hours per week working Monday to Friday, Term time only + 1 week

Oakley School is the District Special School for day pupils, aged from 2 to 19 years, all of whom have severe/complex needs and communication and learning difficulties.

We are seeking to recruit a full-time School Receptionist & Administrative Assistant to join our friendly, positive and forward-looking team, working on our Tunbridge Wells site.

The successful candidate will be required to provide a highly efficient, effective and customer focussed Reception and Administration service to ensure the smooth running of the site. Responsibilities will include: - 

 

  • Welcoming and processing all visitors, ensuring school safeguarding procedures are adhered to.
  • Being the first point of contact for all telephone calls to the site, taking messages and distributing them efficiently.
  • Receiving and processing dinner money, trip funds, donations etc
  • Dealing with general enquiries from parents/carers and prospective parents/carers and passing them to the relevant staff.
  • Providing admin support to members of the leadership Team as requested.
  • Updating pupil information on the school’s SIMS database and on pupils’ files (manual and electronic).
  • Entering site school events, meetings, appointments etc. in the Whole School Calendar.
  • Working with and supporting the Admin Team, as needed.
  • General office and administration tasks to support the smooth running of the site.
  • Administration of Annual Reviews, booking appointments, preparing documents, and liaising with staff and the Local Authority.
  • Candidates will need strong organisational, customer service, administration and IT skills, an eye for detail, be flexible and work well under pressure.  Experience of working in a school is not essential but would be an advantage, previous experience (a minimum of 2 years) of reception and/or administration work is essential.

 

The hours are 37 per week, working Mondays and Fridays, the post is term time only.   Kent Pay 4-5 £23,33800 - £25,002.00 (FTE) (depending on qualifications and experience) and reduced pro-rata for the hours/weeks actually worked. Other benefits include Local Government Pension Scheme, free car parking and access to the Kent Rewards scheme.

Information about the school

Oakley School is the Tunbridge Wells District Special School for day pupils, aged from 3 to 19 years, with a specialist Observation and Assessment Nursery for 3-5 years. All our children and young people have profound, severe/complex needs and communication and learning difficulties.

We have a site in Tonbridge which caters for our Phase 4 (16+) students and a site in Tunbridge Wells which caters for children and young people from the age of 3 to 16. Our one-day Section 8 OFSTED inspection in March 2019 reaffirmed us as 'Good'. We aspire to be outstanding in all that we do.
