Groombridge St Thomas is looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant from September 2024. Our Teaching Assistants play a crucial role in the day-to-day life of the school.  The post involves supporting pupils with their learning under the direction of the class teacher or SENCo. Throughout the week you may be working 1:1 with a pupil, with a group of pupils, or supporting generally in the class. Our TAs also play a crucial role in supporting during lunchtimes and PPA time.

The person appointed needs to have strong behaviour management skills, good communication skills, be enthusiastic, flexible, and be a good team player yet self-motivated enough to use their own initiative when necessary. You should also have good numeracy and literacy skills/qualifications and prior experience working with children. In return, we can offer you a supportive school with friendly, well-behaved pupils eager to learn.

Hours of work: 32.5 hours a week: 8.30-3.30 Monday to Friday including a lunch break

Salary: Grade 4 £23,500 (£18,657 pro rata)

Term time only to include INSET days

This is currently a fixed-term contract for two years due to a predicted fall in pupil numbers. 

 

An additional 3.75 hours may also be available to supervise our breakfast club for three mornings a week.
