An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic teacher to join our expanding Special Needs provision at Aspen 2 in Dover Christ Church Academy to lead a class of students who have a range of profound, severe and complex learning needs.

  • You should be prepared and able to teach across the whole range of key stages and students' needs, although you will spend the majority of your time each academic year with the same class
  • We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who have experience with working in Key Stages 4 and 5 within accredited pathways, or who have worked in a college on accredited pathways.  Equally, we would like to hear from you if you have experience or particular enthusiasm in supporting students in their preparation for adulthood.
  • We are looking for someone who will uphold our values of inclusivity and proactive response to communication and behaviour, as well as a commitment to safeguarding the welfare of young people.

The successful candidates will:

  • be an experienced teacher who has worked in a Special Needs environment
  • have a passion for supporting students with additional needs and be able to demonstrate a high standard of teaching
  • have a good understanding of how to differentiate for a variety of needs and abilities
  • be able to demonstrate the ability to form strong professional relationships with staff and students alike
  • be able to demonstrate a proactive philosophy and approach to learning, communication and behaviour
  • be able to demonstrate that they are a reflective practitioner
  • appreciate the importance of working alongside a wide range of professionals in sharing goals for students
  • have positive communication skills
  • demonstrate a good understanding of implementation of the SEND Code of Practice
  • share the school's vision for inclusive learning
