We are looking for an outstanding practitioner to fill the role of assistant headteacher at St Anthony's. This could be someone who is beginning their career as a senior leader with a view to becoming a headteacher in the future. Alternatively, this role would be suitable for a person with a few years experience in senior leadership. The role will be non-class based but you will be asked to teach from time to time.

As  assistant headteacher you will be expected to play a key strategic role in the senior leadership team, assisting the headteacher and deputy headteacher in the effective leadership, organisation and management of the school in order to raise learning outcomes for all groups of children at St Anthony's.

We believe strongly in developing all members of our team through CPD and we work closely with other SEMH schools and KCC Special Schools as part of KSENT.

A visit to the school is essential as it will give you an opportunity to meet the pupils and staff and find out more about us. Please call the school office to arrange a time to visit.

St Anthony’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Enhanced DBS disclosure is required for this post.

In line with KCSIE 2022 guidance, as part of the shortlisting process St Anthony's reserves the right to conduct an online search on shortlisted candidates as part of our due diligence and to share pertinent information found concerning a candidate's suitability to work with children with the headteacher.

Information about the school

St. Anthony’s is a designated KCC special school for pupils with an EHCP with a main need of SEMH and/or ASC in KS2 -KS4. We are a partner school in Kent Special Educational Needs Trust.

The school works to meet and support a wide range of barriers to learning. Our children and young people have high levels of social emotional issues and communication difficulties, staff need to be able to build positive relationships with them and provide a diverse and stimulating education, in a supportive and safe environment.

Most pupils come to the school with negative previous school experiences and traditionally from a background with high levels of deprivation. To achieve positive outcomes for our pupils we place a great deal of emphasis on individual programmes within small group settings. Past OfSTED reports, parental feedback and other professionals agree that we are very successful with our pupils; our skills in building positive relationships with children and young people helps us reinforce this message.
