The role is as a Teaching Assistant but some group work or 1:1 may be required.  Experience of working with children with a variety of special educational needs would be advantageous, along with experience or willingness to be trained in;

  • Makaton
  • PECS
  • Sensory Circuits

Whilst you will be expected to work under the direction of the class teacher you will also have the opportunity to use your own initiative to organise tasks and activities; creating simple resources to support the pupil’s work as appropriate.  You will work closely with the class teachers and EYFS or KS 1 teams, the school’s local SENCO and the Trust director of SEND as well as working in partnership with external contacts such as specialist teachers who will offer their support and guidance.

Shears Green Infant School is part of the Hornchurch Academy Trust which is a group of six schools based in Rainham, Upminster and Northfleet within the London Borough of Havering and Kent.

We are a large Infant school nestled within Northfleet just off of the A2. We have lovely outdoor learning areas including our Reception play garden, our year 1 play garden and our large forest area.
