Advert

We are looking for a Lead Practitioner - MFL for September 2024, and warmly welcome applications from experienced teachers who are passionate about MFL and are dedicated to enabling students to make excellent progress.

Our successful candidate will be an experienced MFL practitioner who specialises in French and also has the ability to teach Spanish or German. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable of key developments concerning MFL examinations and related pedagogy. They will deliver outstanding lessons and have high expectations of attainment and behaviour. It is important to be able to work collaboratively, communicate well and inspire our learners. As an IB World School, the promotion of international mindedness and the development of language acquisition is extremely important to the school community. The Academy is passionate about increasing EBACC entry and attainment and you will play a key part in this.

You would be joining a well-established, highly successful, innovative and passionate team, who are committed to excellence.  We have successfully supported and developed ECTs in their roles and also trained associate teachers. The Academy regularly runs trips abroad and also takes opportunities to increase the cultural capital and motivation of students, through inviting outside speakers to the Academy, arranging for plays to be performed in the target language, developing strong links with our partner school in Spain and pursuing the International School's Award.  We also have a huge focus on Community Languages for our diverse population!

Achievement for all students regardless of background is our key objective. We offer stimulating learning environments where effective teaching and learning are underpinned by high-quality interpersonal relationships. If you are ambitious for yourself and the learners you serve, then you are the person we need. As a lead practitioner, you will also support the Assistant Principal and existing Lead Practitioners in driving whole school initiatives linked to teaching and learning, pedagogy and assessment. You will also support the school's approach on life long learning with all in the community through coaching of staff and CPD offer on our dedicated Wednesday afternoons.

This is a fantastic role where you will have a direct impact on the quality of education and outcomes for the MFL department. We are looking to raise the profile of MFL in the school and thereby increase the percentage of students taking an additional language - you will be a key player in driving this forward.
