Advert

Wye School is a co-educational, non-selective secondary school, opening in 2013 and now fully established with a 6th form. We are a relatively small school, with 600 students, and a warm and friendly atmosphere. The school has built on United Learning’s successful track record nationally of providing an excellent secondary education for local children and is oversubscribed and has excellent exam outcomes.

The successful candidate will join the school in September 2024 and will be part of a small Modern Foreign Languages department of two staff that deliver Spanish and French at KS3, KS4 and potentially KS5. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate to be the Spanish specialist and, for the right candidate, be the Head of Languages. As a small school, we work as part of a small, close knit team, but, being part of United Learning offers excellent professional development and future career prospects. We work alongside Chilmington Green School, the other local United Learning secondary school.

We welcome applications from both ECTs (not suitable for the Head of MFL role but will be considered for Spanish Teacher role) and experienced practitioners. We will consider a part time request.

The successful candidate will be:

  • An inspirational Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages who can successfully motivate and inspire students.
  • Committed to ensuring that all pupils make excellent progress.
  • Driven and determined to ensure that Wye School has a successful MfL department with high expectations for every student.
  • Dedicated to their own professional development.

We can offer:

  • Excellent ongoing CPD and career development opportunities.
  • The opportunity to contribute to the wider school.
  • Collaboration with colleagues from across the United Learning trust and across our local cluster of schools, Wye School, Chilmington Green School and Ashford School.
  • Potential for progression into middle and senior leadership opportunities.
  • Working across a large and successful multi-academy trust with a shared curriculum, resources and subject specific support- this provides far more support for teachers around planning and assessment than the norm and is a great benefit of working for United Learning.

We actively welcome visits and would be delighted to show you the school. For a confidential discussion about this role, please contact:

Information about the school

Wye School has a vision of excellence, a vision shared by all staff and students. Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2018, the school is dedicated to ensuring each student gains the knowledge, confidence and skills to make a success of their future lives. The school caters for Years 7 -13 with a roll of 600, housed in a new building situated in the beautiful Kent Downs countryside, offering an outstanding environment for staff and students. The first GCSE results in 2018 were above average for Progress 8 and above national average Attainment 8, and followed by an equally strong second set of results in 2019. Students are well behaved and hard working and our staff form a friendly and committed team. As the smallest local secondary school, great pride is taken in strong relationships internally and with parents and the community.

Located within close proximity of Wye village centre, the school is at the very heart of the local community and has the potential to grow into a truly exceptional school. Wye is perfectly located to enjoy the Kent countryside, whilst still being within an hour of London thanks to HS1.
