Teaching Assistant

Speldhurst Church of England Primary School is looking to appoint an energetic and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who has the ability to inspire, motivate and provide one-to-one support for an SEN pupil within our Year 5 class.

Speldhurst is an Outstanding school and this is a great opportunity to join our happy and motivated team. The school has a strong Christian ethos and is at the heart of the Speldhurst village community.

We are looking for an enthusiastic class based teaching assistant who can hit the ground running to support our Year 5 pupils. You will have a passion for working with children and strong academic abilities. You may have experience of working in a KS2 classroom, with small groups and in supporting individual pupils. The post is term-time only, 32.5 hours per week, from 8.30am to 3.30pm daily. Although experience is an advantage, consideration will be given to candidates with relevant skills. Experience in running interventions, speech and language and social and communication groups would also be an advantage but training can be provided.  

The ideal candidate will be a well organised practitioner who is able to use their own initiative and also be able to work as part of a team. You will be flexible in your approach, completely reliable and always enthusiastic and positive.

Having a working knowledge of the National Curriculum would be a great advantage. Empathy and an ability to establish good working relationships with staff, parents and pupils are essential.

Necessary Experience:

  • Good standard of education
  • Strong ICT skills
  • The ability to take responsibility for small intervention groups.
  • Evidence of excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable Experience:  

  • Previous experience as a TA or Teacher in KS2
  • Knowledge of phonics 
  • Artistic/display ability

Qualifications:

Any of the following would be welcomed:

Teaching Assistant Level 3

HLTA

Degree in Early Childhood Studies/Education

Teaching Qualification

Experience as a KS1/KS2 Teaching Assistant

Visits to the school are encouraged
