Do you possess exceptional interpersonal skills to nurture both children and adults so that they flourish? If so, Harrietsham Church of England Primary School could be the school for you.

Harrietsham is beginning an exciting new chapter in its journey, with a substantive headteacher having been appointed from April 2024.  Our Senior Leadership team is being expanded and this new team will be instrumental in driving the school forwards to pursue its exceptional potential.  Our Business Leader will form a pivotal role within our new Leadership Team.

Our school has recently grown from 1-form to 2-form entry; with September marking the end of our expansion.  Our children and staff are happy, fun-loving and enthusiastic and we are now looking for an exceptional Business Leader to join our team and to work with us to continue to grow the school. Together, our aim is to ensure that everyone reaches their full potential, like the mustard seed, so that our entire school family can flourish in every aspect of their education and life journey.

So, if you are a skilled, enthusiastic and experienced professional looking to join a dedicated team who are committed to ensuring that the children at Harrietsham Church of England Primary School can flourish in every aspect of their school life, you could be the person we are looking for to become our new Business Leader.

The post is for 35-37.5 hours per week, 41 weeks a year pro-rata (although this could be negotiated for the right candidate).

You will need:

  • A caring and enthusiastic approach to children, families, staff and our wider community.
  • A school business management qualification (CSBM or equivalent).
  • Experience of successful school finance management.
  • A proven track record of excellent leadership and effective teamwork.
  • A flexible, energetic, analytical and creative approach.
  • Drive and determination to secure the resources necessary to provide our children with enriching experiences for every aspect of their school life.
  • Clear thinking, with an ability to use systems effectively to deliver great outcomes.

Please read the attached Job Description and Person Specification for more detail.

We welcome candidates for tours of the school – tours will be held during the week commencing Monday 22nd April and can be booked via the school office (please contact our school office on 01622 859261 to book an appointment).

Candidates must be available for interview on Tuesday 7th May.

Our Vision Statement: ‘Nurtured we Flourish’.

We are a warm, welcoming and inclusive school rooted in our rural community. Like the mustard seed, we grew from tiny beginnings and our branches are now spread wide – providing support and taking our values beyond the school gates. All those in our community feel safe and nurtured - able to flourish and grow academically, spiritually, emotionally and physically to achieve their full God-given potential.

Harrietsham Church of England Primary School is a friendly village school set in beautiful countryside in the heart of the community. We pride ourselves on the achievements of all of our pupils - we are a nurturing and inclusive school where everyone works together, putting our children at the heart of everything we do. We welcome pupils and staff of all faiths and none and our vision and values of Love, Forgiveness and Fellowship guide our everyday actions.

Our school building (which dates from 2004) houses well-resourced classrooms, a variety of smaller learning areas and offices, a well-stocked library, an inviting nurture room and a school hall with our own on-site kitchen. We are lucky to be positioned within extensive grounds which give our children access to a forest school, a sports field and a separate playing field and playground.

We have supportive parents and an active Governing Body. We maintain close links with the church and local community.
