Teaching Assistants required

27.5  hours per week, 39 weeks per year (including 5 INSET days) Term Time only.

8.50 am – 3.20pm Monday to Friday

KR4 or KR5 depending on experience

Kent Range 4 - Actual salary £13,795.13 - £14,507.17 per annum  (pro rata to 

£21,389 - £22,493 per annum for a full time position) 

Kent  Range 5 -  Actual salary £14,572.95 - £15,281.13 per annum  (pro rata to £22,595 - £23,693 per annum  for a full time postion)

Those hired at KR4 will be re-graded to KR5 upon successful completion of the school's training programme.

The Malling School is looking to appoint highly motivated and experienced individuals to support pupils with special educational needs. The Malling School has a designated Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) which supports pupils with an EHCP - Autism and/or Speech, Language and Communication Need.

You will support young people with their physical and educational needs both within and outside of the classroom. Establishing and maintaining an excellent working relationship the young people.

The role will require you to liaise and communicate with the Excellence for All team and outside professionals.

Staff induction includes a training pathway and access to our Employee Assistance Programme which is linked to our affiliation to the DfE Education Staff Wellbeing Charter.

You will have:    

  • Level 2 Maths and English     
  • Good Standard of all round education    
  • Be willing to undertake on-going training as part of your CPD pathway
  • Ability to use all Microsoft packages to proficient standard
  • Previous experience with supporting young people with autism/dyslexia (desirable)  
  • Ability to relate to young people and adults, understanding their needs and respond accordingly     
  • The ability to work well independently and as part of a team, demonstrating a high level of resilience and proactive approach

Information about the school

A mixed 11-19 co-educational High School of 1000 pupils serving the historic market town of West Malling and surrounding villages. The school is set in pleasant rural surroundings and has its own lake and extensive grounds. It was completely re-built in September 2007 and therefore has outstanding facilities.

West Malling is close to the county town of Maidstone and has excellent rail links to London and Ashford International (for the Continent).
