Our PE department implements a wide-ranging and specialised PE program across the school and we are seeking to appoint a highly skilled and enthusiastic PE and School Sport Specialist to join our team.

We understand how important PE, School Sport and Physical Activity is for our pupils, both in terms of physical development and the life lessons that it provides and the right candidate will have the motivation and energy that it takes to inspire and enthuse our pupils.

This role will primarily involve delivering PE lessons across our inclusive primary school as well as coaching before and after school sports clubs. Providing a range of active play options during playtimes and lunchtimes will also be required.

The post is for 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday), 40 weeks per year (term time, INSETs, one week in the school holidays). Flexibility will be required as some sporting fixtures and events may fall outside core working hours, and will be paid as overtime. The pay scale is Kent Range 6 (£23,801 for a full-time post), which equates to approximately £21,184 pro rata per annum for this role.

We require a good standard of general education and GCSE qualifications or equivalent in English and Mathematics at Grade 4/C or above. A Level 2 qualification in at least one sport is also essential.

Verification of qualifications will be required before employment can commence so please do not declare any qualifications unless you can produce the original certificate.

A formal interview will take place with a panel comprising of members of the Senior Leadership Team and will last approximately thirty minutes. Candidates will also be expected to provide a thirty minute PE activity to a group of mixed ability Key Stage 2 children.

CVs will not be accepted so please complete the application form in full and explain how your skills and experience make you a suitable candidate for the role.

GPSN is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Our Safeguarding Policy is available on the school website.

Shortlisted candidates will be subject to online checks following Keeping Children Safe in Education 2023. The interviewee will also be asked questions relating to the safeguarding of children.

We are also committed to championing staff wellbeing and all employees can access free counselling, occupational health support and supervision sessions.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service and a check against the ISA Barred List for Children, two satisfactory references and right to work in the UK documentation. All new employees to the school, including those with previous local government service, shall be subject to a 6 month probationary period.

If applicants have not been contacted by Friday 22 March they have been unsuccessful on this occasion.
