Technology Technician

We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative individual who has a passion of Design Technology. Someone who can play an active role in contributing to the already high standards within this team, contributing and coordinating the use of practical resources and facilities for the Technology Department.

The Design & Technology Team comprises five members of teaching staff and a technician. Currently, the Design and Technology department has three fully functional workshops, a preparation room and CAD room. The department currently delivers a range of focus curriculum areas including Graphics, Product Design, Resistant Materials and Textiles from Key Stage 3 to IB in the Sixth Form in lessons of 75 minutes. High expectations are set within the department for both teachers and students. The department is committed to developing its teaching, taking on board new initiatives and experimenting with a wide range of teaching styles and strategies. In addition, Design and Technology offers a wide range of after school sessions. As a department, they proudly participate in a variety of competitions such as the RHS Green Plan and Young Engineers Project.

Job Purpose: Under the overall direction of the Head of Technology to co-ordinate the use of practical resources and facilities within the Technology Department.

The Trust comprises of Skinners’ Kent Academy and Skinners’ Kent Primary School.

The Academy opened on September 1st 2009. It is an independent, non fee-paying, mixed, all ability school, funded by the DfE and supported fully by its lead sponsor The Skinners’ School, a grammar school for boys and the Skinners’ Company. The Skinners’ Kent Academy Trust is founded on the principles of a culture of high standards and high aspirations, a culture of active participation, an emotionally rich learning environment and an inclusive environment where every child is known and every learner supported.
