Are you passionate about the teaching of languages, an outstanding teacher of French, and looking to work within a department of likeminded individuals? If so, then Simon Langton Girls’ Grammar School may have the job for you.

Our wonderful school is seeking a dynamic, innovative and inspirational teacher of French, confident in teaching to A Level and beyond, to join our highly successful, selective school, from September 2024. The ability to teach German, be that to Key Stage 3 or higher, would be desirable. The position could be either full or part-time (0.7-0.8 FTE) depending on the candidate. The position would be suitable for an experienced teacher or an ECT.

The successful applicant must be passionate about languages, a team player and have the drive to maintain superb academic results, in addition to developing a thriving super-curricular programme through in-school and residential opportunities.

All students study two languages in Key Stage 3 from French, German and Spanish, with students also learning Latin and (optionally) Classical Greek. Almost all students will continue with one or two languages to GCSE, with growing numbers of students continuing to A Level, or joining our sixth form due to the reputation of the Langton Language Centre (LLC). The LLC also offers a wide range of additional super -curricular languages and opportunities, be that through learning one of the many other languages offered, through our annual A Level MFL conference or through working with other schools.

Simon Langton Girls’ Grammar is a highly regarded and successful school that places students’ academic success on a par with their wellbeing, creating a learning community where every individual matters. This is reflected in our approach to teaching and learning and as a teacher with the MFL department the successful candidate will be central to continuing to instil this ethos in our students.

We are also passionate about the wellbeing of our staff, and in addition to a generous allocation for PPA, we have pledged our commitment to the DfE wellbeing Charter, declaring our commitment to protect, promote and enhance the wellbeing and mental health of all our employees.

Our curriculum:

We currently follow the Eduqas A Level courses for French but will be changing from Eduqas to Edexcel for the new GCSE syllabus.
