If you have answered yes to these questions our assistant caretaker position might just be perfect for you. We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable person to help look after our growing school. If you have the ability to use your initiative, work independently but are also a great team player, then we would love you to apply. Patience and a sense of humour are essential. This position will involve working alongside our current caretaker as the school has much more that needs doing as we have grown. It is likely that as the school grows further there will be the opportunity for promotion.

Duties include: unlocking/locking/security/alarms, keeping outside areas clean & tidy, management of caretaking and cleaning supplies, property maintenance including redecoration. Training can be arranged as necessary and will be part of an induction package.

You will need to be organised and ideally live locally. The hours are 35 per week – 7.00-10.00 a.m. and 2.30-6.30 p.m. Monday to Friday in term time. Daily hours during school holidays are more flexible and will depend on the work needing to be done. Additional hours may be worked, if required, by arrangement with the head teacher.

Working hours may be subject to variation and call-out at weekends. Different working hours may be necessary from time to time, to fit in with events happening at the school beyond the regular working day.

Holiday entitlement - 25 days plus bank holidays. All holiday must be taken during the school holidays.

Bysing Wood Primary School is committed to safeguarding children and applications will be subject to an enhanced DBS check. As part of the recruitment process anyone invited for interview will be subject to scrutiny of their online presence.

Visits to the school will be welcomed.

Please apply using the online form on Kent Teach.

Information about the school

Bysing Wood is a friendly Primary School located on the western outskirts of Faversham. The school is growing in popularity, building on a successful Ofsted and the fantastic range of facilities offered alongside a great atmosphere. Currently the school has 240 children on roll, organised into 10 classes from Reception to Year 6. A building project to become 2 form entry over the next few years has been completed and provides the base for our Key Stage 2 classes. September 2018 saw the start of a Forest School provision on site and we opened a pre-school in January 2020, catering for 2,3 and 4 year olds. In March 2020, we were a founder member of EKC Schools Trust, which provides access to the EKC Group colleges' resources to further enrich our curriculum. At Bysing Wood Primary School we value each child as an individual and encourage them to achieve their personal best in a happy, secure, stimulating environment. The displays in school are a major strength and help evidence the rich, relevant, termly topic-based curriculum (with associated visitors and trips) on offer. Our staff are committed to developing the whole child, encouraging learning through knowledge, skills and practical activities. We also support them to become tolerant, respectful and caring individuals who enjoy their work and play and are proud of their achievements. The proportion of pupils eligible for free school meals is high, pointing to the social and economic challenges facing a proportion of our families, although the profile is changing over time as the housing developments in Faversham come on stream.
