The music department at Newington Community Primary School are seeking an open minded, enthusiastic and fun-loving person to help support the music teacher deliver an exciting and ambitious music curriculum. The post is full-time, term time only.

At NCPS we always put the needs of our pupils at the core of everything that we do and music plays an important role in developing our pupil’s confidence and in celebrating our pupils’ diverse range of talents. A musical background would be an advantage and a working knowledge of an Apple Mac, including GarageBand, iMovie and Keynote would also be useful. However full training will be given to the successful candidate so an eagerness to learn new skills would be essential.

We are looking for an individual who would help inspire a love of music in all of our pupils regardless of their academic level, previous exposure and experience of musical activities or by their musical ability. Music should be seen as an all-inclusive subject and, additionally, our radio station should be used as a tool to develop performance confidence in every pupil, with a focus on lower ability pupils, or those lacking self-confidence.

To further improve the musical opportunities offered to our pupils, the successful candidate would be fully involved in supporting whole class instrumental teaching including on the ocarinas, the ukuleles, the keyboard and guitars. An ability to experiment with new ideas is also essential. The successful candidate would also be expected to help with the running of music clubs either after school or at lunchtimes.

Ideally the successful candidate needs to be logical and tidy in order to compliment the creativity and musical ideas of the music teacher. The candidate needs to be organised with an ability to prioritise.

The candidate needs to believe that Newington can exceed beyond all expectations and help support a music department that is celebrated in our local area and beyond. The successful candidate will help build relationships within our local community and take part in community-based performances that celebrate our pupil’s uniqueness and successes.

A basic knowledge of social media would also be an advantage.

Tours of the school are available and can be arranged by contacting the school office on 01843 593412 or email headteacher@newington-ramsgate.kent.sch.uk.
