Food / Textiles Technician 

We are seeking a Food and Textiles technician to join our successful Design Technology team and help support teachers and students of these two subjects. In this position, you will be supporting Teaching staff in practical lessons and with the preparation and setting up of practical areas and equipment. Our ideal applicant has great communication skills, a passion to support young people to learn new skills and improve their food choices and creativity within textiles. The applicant will also be responsible for orders within DT and help implement the risk assessments in the department. 

 The successful applicant will be expected to do tasks such as (but not limited to) 

  • Preparing and clearing away materials and equipment   
  • Making arrangements for maintenance and repair services to equipment   
  • Assisting in the maintenance of health and safety standards  
  • Supporting Teaching staff in practical lessons   
  • Contribute to the planning, development and organisation of systems/procedures/policies  
  • Promote healthy eating  
  • Maintain stock and breakage records, catalogues and user manuals  
  • Order, receive and account for new stock and equipment  
  • Working with pupils to help them achieve their learning objectives for the practical session.   
  • General Cleaning of both practical areas  
  • Ordering of stationery and specialist equipment / products (liaising with finance to ensure correct payments are made and received)  
  • Help update and review relevant polices / risk assessments in the DT area
  • Update and review COSSH and risk assessments materials held in the DT area.  

30 hours per week – term time only

Salary – KR4 £21,389.00 - £22,493.00 (Full time equivalent)
