Higher Level Teaching Assistant 

Salary: NJC Grade C2 Point 12 – 25 £26,421 - £33,945 FTE (Actual £20,050 - £25,760) 

Hours: 32.5 hours, 39 Weeks - Term Time plus 5 staff development days 

Location: Riverside Primary School, St Edmund’s Way, Rainham, Kent, ME8 8ET

We are seeking to appoint a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support the teaching staff through planning, preparing and delivering lessons. This will involve facilitating non-contact time for teachers and short term sickness and to care for the safety. wellbeing, social and emotional needs of children. The successful candidate should have experience of working within a primary school. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead whole class learning 
  • Liaise with Class Teachers and the Senior Leadership Team in planning and delivering 
  • Assist in planning individual children learning programmes 
  • Prepare differentiated work/materials for children’s learning 
  • Implement children’s learning programmes in groups or individually as required 
  • Assist with observation and monitoring of children’s progress 
  • Maintain accurate assessments and records   

Requirements: 

  • Level 4 HLTA qualification or equivalent or willingness to work towards 
  • Experience of working with children with Autism and/or Speech and Language difficulties would be advantageous 
  • Understanding of children with different behavioural needs 
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team 
  • Possess a desire to help all children achieve their best 
  • Have a caring nature and a deep regard for children 
  • Ability to adopt a flexible approach and change roles at short notice 
  • Enthusiastic, energetic and adaptable 
  • Excellent communication skills   

Riverside Primary School: 

We are a popular, mainstream community school, which is part of Rainham Mark Education Trust. The school had a good Ofsted Inspection in November 2019, and was recognised as being Outstanding in the areas of Behaviour and Attitudes and Personal Development. The school has two integrated special provisions for a small number of children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder or Visual Impairment, who are taught in the mainstream classes with appropriate support.
