School Business Manager – Palm Bay Primary School

Salary - £39,548 (pro-rata)

Are you an accomplished, strategic-minded School Business Manager, seeking your next challenge?  Are you looking for a great employer with great benefits and the opportunity to make a difference in children's lives every day, whilst working within a friendly team in a thriving Primary School?   Then you're looking for us too!

Following a period of change in our school Office, our new School Business Manager will have the unique opportunity to develop and shape a brand new team, ensuring all operational aspects of school are high-functioning and effective.  You will have prior experience of working as a School Business Manager, or an Operational Manager in a different sector, and will have robust knowledge of strategic financial management, compliance, data protection and health and safety.  You will already hold the SBM qualification or be willing to undertake training in order to gain it.

As a member of the senior leadership team, you will attend all relevant leadership team meetings and advise on matters relating to finance and resources, reporting to governors where appropriate.  You will monitor developments in technology and consider how it can be used to enhance the school’s business processes, teaching and learning, and staff wellbeing.  You will implement school-wide changes and allocate resources in line with the school’s strategic goals, ensuring the school’s successful financial performance.

As part of strategic financial planning, you will develop and implement the school’s fundraising and income generation strategy, choosing fundraising priorities in line with the school improvement plan, including grant applications.  Linked to this, you will lead on school publicity, promoting the work of the school through the website and open-days and developing a social media presence for the school.

In short, you will lead the team that ensures the school operates smoothly, allowing leaders and teachers to focus on teaching and learning.  Excellent communication skills, organisation and innovation will be crucial skills, along with your passion and commitment to our mission:  ensuring every child, whatever their background, receives a high-quality education.

The post is permanent, full-time (37 hours a week), term time only, plus 2 additional weeks (41 weeks per year plus annual leave entitlement), Monday to Friday - office hours are between 8.15am to 5.00pm.
