At Seal CE Primary School, we have invested, with the help of the community, charities and many volunteer hands a small community school farm, sitting on half an acre of mixed native woodland and grass.

Our farm is now almost three years old and we have grown from strength to strength, in many ways.

We are home to some rescue; chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs, a vast array of chickens of all breeds, including rare breeds, ducks, pygmy goats, 3 breeds of pigs, two tortoises, 3 hives of bees and 5 breeds of sheep.

As our animal selection has grown, so has our team.  We currently have 2 farm assistants, 1 farm educator, team of volunteers, all over seen by Sara Spellman the Outdoor Learning Leader who started the development of the farm and closely oversees its running and development on a daily basis.

We have now grown into a multi academy trust and are aiming to deliver a bespoke farm education to all the students within this.

We are looking for someone who IDEALLY has:

  • Experience working with and teaching children
  • A love for farm animals
  • Confidence in handling animals and is willing to learn more about them
  • A passion for outdoor learning in all weathers
  • Experience with working with farm animals

The right applicant MUST have:

  • Excellent people skills
  • Clear communication skills
  • The understand of the needs of our community school farm
  • Teaching skills (not necessarily qualifications in teaching)
  • The flexibility to work in a fast paced environment
  • The ability to stand in for staff who are on holiday, completing morning / evening rota of feeding and opening the animal up.

 

This role is for Mondays and Thursdays.

Your hours would be 10 hours per week, 9:30am-2:30pm with

A paid 15-minute break is included in these hours

 

Pro rata will be £5,533.02

This is a term time only position

You will need to complete 2 inset days per year.
