Leigh Academies Trust has a rare and exciting opportunity to join the leadership team at our high performing SCITT, Kent and Medway Training (KMT). Our successful candidate will be responsible for leading the East Kent Secondary hub as part of a team, and jointly lead the mentor leadership team with specific responsibility for school based mentoring. 

This role will sit alongside the leads of our other geographical hubs across Kent and Medway. Together, under the direction of the Head and Deputy Head of KMT, this team will ensure the SCITT delivers on the 2024 Quality Requirements for ITT.

As part of our SCITT team you will also sit as a member of the Leigh Institute, providing a comprehensive offer of Professional Development from ITT through to Executive Leadership support, alongside our flagship apprenticeship programmes.

  • Currently holding a position with middle or senior leadership and management responsibility

  • Experienced in ITT mentoring, either as a school-based mentor, Professional Tutor or leader of Teaching and Learning

  • Approachable and keen to work with staff across the region to ensure wide success;
  • Able to develop excellent relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Able to work flexibly and are prepared to travel to schools across East Kent.

Information about the trust

As of 1st September 2024, our Trust comprises 33 geographically organised academies (17 secondaries, 14 primaries and 2 special) educating more than 24,000 students and employing 4,000 talented staff. Currently, 16 of our academies are considered to be “Outstanding” which is 53% of those which have been inspected whilst part of the Trust. The Trust is establishing three ‘clusters’ of academies: LAT Central; LAT West; LAT North. In addition, the Trust is responsible for one of the region’s biggest initial teaching training organisations, a large teaching school hub and is an accredited apprenticeship provider.
