Gravesend Grammar School (GGS) has an extensive extra curricular sports programme and is looking
for a talented and committed sports coach. We are particularly interested in hearing from Rugby,
Basketball, Hockey, Netball, Football and Cricket coaches. The role will also include work as a Cover
Supervisor, to stand in for the teacher if they are absent across all subjects. They will be required to
instruct the students to appropriate set work and support their learning in a calm working
environment. It is very important that the successful candidate is confident in working with young
people and that they are able to create sustainable relationships.

The successful candidate needs to be highly motivated to develop as a sports coach. This role would
particularly suit someone who has aspirations to coach in professional or national environments in
the future. Whilst qualifications are desirable a commitment to the sport, experience and
enthusiasm are essential. They must be able to;

  • Organise, coach and officiate fixtures and competitions both internally and externally
  • Motivate young people to take part in sport
  • Develop students so that they can access school, regional, national and international
    competition
  • Aspire to lead a sport to national success
  • Drive a school minibus (hold a clean UK driving licence)

Cover supervision has different demands over the course of the year and the successful candidate
needs to be flexible and fit their sports coaching preparation around this commitment.

Benefits:

  • Free Benenden Healthcare Scheme
  • Potential for subsidised on-site accommodation
  • Close links to A2/M2, with free on-site parking

Information about the school

Information about the school: Gravesend Grammar School is an 11-18 selective boys grammar school with girls admitted to the Sixth Form. The most recent Ofsted Inspection (June 2015) judged the School as ‘Outstanding’. We became an Academy on 1st August 2011 as part of The Decus Educational Trust (TDET). The school is currently going through a period of expansion. We have built a 10 million pound facility to accommodate the additional students. We will continue to rise year on year until we admit 1500 students (7 forms of entry). This is a really exciting time in the history of the school and has the potential to provide succession opportunities for colleagues that want to progress in their careers. We have a committed staff who provide opportunity and challenge in a caring environment and strive to ensure the students achieve the very best they can at all times. We also have strong working partnerships with parents, governors and the local community. We are served by excellent transport links; by road the A2 and M25, and by rail Gravesend train station (on the HS1 line) is a short walk from the School and Ebbsfleet International train station is only a 10 minute drive. We also have the opportunity for on-site staff accommodation.
