Are you a passionate and experienced teacher with a commitment to supporting students with special needs?

 About the role

We are seeking a qualified teacher with the ability to plan and teach to Key Stage 3 pupils a range of subjects. There will be significant gaps in the pupils’ knowledge and understanding which will need to be addressed and planned for. There is a real onus on teaching life skills which help to enhance their values, learning and interests as well as specialist support. As a Class Teacher, you will be working closely with a range of support staff both inside and outside of the classroom.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective teaching of whole classes, groups and individuals so that teaching objectives are met, momentum and challenge are maintained, and best use is made of teaching time.
  • Use teaching methods which keep pupils engaged, including stimulating pupils’ intellectual curiosity, effective questioning and response, clear presentation and good use of resources.
  • Set high expectations for pupils' behaviour, establishing and maintaining a good standard of discipline through well-focused teaching and through positive and productive relationships
  • Identify clear teaching objectives, content, lesson structures and sequences appropriate to the subject matter and the pupils being taught.
  • Set appropriate and demanding expectations for pupils’ learning and motivation. Set clear targets for pupils' learning, building on prior attainment.
  • Implement and keep records on Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Assess how well learning objectives have been achieved and use this assessment for future teaching.
  • Mark and monitor pupils’ classwork providing constructive oral and written feedback, setting targets for pupils’ progress.
  • Understand the demands expected of pupils in relation to the National Curriculum at Key Stages
  • Take responsibility for their own professional development and to keep up to date with research and developments in pedagogy and in the subjects they teach.
  • Share corporate responsibility for the implementation of school policies and practices.

 Requirements

  • A qualified teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
  • Experience teaching across subjects at primary or secondary level
  • A deep understanding of the needs of students with special educational requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and a passion for supporting students with special needs.
