Job Title:         Sports Assistant

Location:         Medway Green School, Rochester, Kent

Hours:             37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30–16.00

Salary:             £19,086 per annum

Contract:         Permanent, Term Time only

About the Role

We are looking for a Sports Teaching Assistant to play a significant role in the physical, mental and emotional development of the pupils in our care. They will support in providing a nurturing, reflective environment within lessons, that will meet the needs of the students, enabling them to access the curriculum provided.

Duties and responsibilities as a Sports Assistant:

  • Work closely with the PE teacher to deliver PE lessons, Sports leader award, NCFE Health and Fitness and BTEC Health and Social Care to secondary aged students.
  • Lead elements of lessons with the support, guidance, and direction of the PE teacher.
  • Ensure PE equipment is stored correctly and neatly, ready for the next user.

Essential

  • Experience of working within sports industry, ideally coaching.
  • Experience working in a challenging environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Information about the school

Medway Green School is a special needs provision that provides for students whose SEMH / SEN needs have resulted in placement breakdown at their mainstream schools. We provide a nurturing and welcoming environment to SEMH students in Key stages 1-3. Students will experience a personalised curriculum based on previous learning and identified needs. With a keen focus on therapy, education and personal development the school aims to help young pupils grow academically, socially and emotionally to enable them to achieve success as they progress through life.

Opened in 2019, Medway Green School presently provides education to 38 students. The next phase of our growth will grow our role to 67 students and introduce a KS4 curriculum.
