We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Manager, with lots of ideas, to lead our growing extended schools provision, Acorns Club, which currently provides before and after school care for up to  50 pupils a session.

Our provision runs from 7.30am-8.40am and 3.10pm-6pm daily, term-time only, in our school hall.

The successful candiate will have experience in providing extended schools provision and be influential in the continued development of this Club for our school. The children are at the heart of everything we do at West Borough Primary School and we believe this to be the case from the minute they step through the door in the morning, until they leave our care.

You will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • ensuring the safeguarding and wellbeing of all children is met at all times
  • leading a team of  staff/playworkers
  • providing stimulating and well planned, play-based experiences
  • being proactive and showing commitment to ensuring that all children attending the setting, receive high quality care, are kept safe and receive stimulating play experiences, which meet their individual needs and interests
  • building strong relationships with parents ensuring they feel valued and supported

Hours: 22 hours per week, term-time only, 38 weeks per year plus holiday entitlement  (2.30pm to 6.30pm Monday to Friday and 2 additional hours to be worked flexibly across the week).

Desirable Qualifications: 

  • Experience of working with 4-11 year olds in a play or education environment.
  • An appropriate childcare or playwork qualification (NVQ Level 3), or the equivalent in experience.
  • First aid qualification (or willingness to undertake training)
  • Food hygiene certificate (or willingness to obtain)
