Advert

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team at St Stephen's Infant School and must be willing to work in all three of our year groups, Foundation Stage, Year One and Year Two. You should be a positive and enthusiastic person who loves working with children and helping them to strive for their best.

Whilst experience is desirable, it is not essential; your numeracy and literacy will be of a high enough standard to support and extend children throughout the infant age range. You will be able to communicate effectively with children and adults, have a flexible attitude, a good sense of humour, and be friendly and approachable. Good time management and the ability to work on your own initiative are essential.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading groups of children in focus interventions
  • Supporting children in achieving the lesson objective in literacy, maths and across all areas of the curriculum
  • Working 1:1 with children who may have additional needs. Feeding back to the class teacher and sometimes keeping records of progress and behaviour, i.e. Tapestry learning journal
  • Working with different year groups to support any social, emotional, behavioural or medical needs
  • Preparing resources and some administrative work
  • Displaying children's work creatively
  • Lunch duty
  • Some cover supervision.

Above all, you need to be determined to help our children achieve their best, and be prepared to put their needs first. Children will be at the heart of your work. You must be able to demonstrate that you understand the importance of educating the whole child within a creative and innovative school setting.

All applications will be considered and all relevant training will be given to the right candidate, however previous experience working within a KS1 environment will be an advantage.

This position is temporary until 31st August 2024 for 32.5 hours, working Monday to Friday (8:30am to 3.30pm) at Kent Range 3.

Please note, we reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.

The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check along with other pre-employment checks which must be undertaken before the role is confirmed by the school.
