Attendance Officer

(£25,262 - £28,466) 37.5 hours per week

(to start in January 2024 or immediately, full-time or ‘term time only’ considered)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard working member of staff to join the pastoral team in our school, working with families to ensure their children have excellent attendance.  We would welcome applications from someone with similar experience within a school setting, or someone new to such a role with a strong, positive sense of values, looking to make a difference to young people and their families.

Applicants should be hard working, professional and have excellent communication and organisational skills.

We are a school with a strong sense of ethos and values and are intentionally inclusive, which means we have a high proportion of children with SEND and are proud of this. The continuous improvement of the school is clear to external visitors and our performance outcomes and we embrace our position in the heart of the community, with high quality facilities for staff and students as well as the local community, including an onsite leisure centre and cinema. We are now over-subscribed and the school of choice for our local community.  Current staff benefits include:

  • Free Gym Membership.
  • Part of the Challenge Partners Network of Excellence
  • Free Staff Breakfast.
  • Access to a high quality Professional Development Programme
  • Free Staff Lunch (every day for staff who do one lunch duty per week).
  • All teaching staff have more than the standard 10% PPA time.
  • Regular visits from a free Ice Cream Van.

Information about the school

Our Staff, Governors and Sponsors are dedicated to ensuring that every student achieves his or her potential, both academically and personally, leaving the academy with the confidence, resilience, and qualifications necessary to deliver a bright future. We are recognised by Ofsted as a ‘Good’ school and committed to recruiting those who share our ethos and values.

The Marsh Academy is a relatively new school, which is over-subscribed and our new buildings provide high quality facilities for our staff, students and the local community. We have our own Community Leisure Centre and Cinema showing the latest movies, details of both can be found here: www.marshacademy.org.uk.

The workload and wellbeing of all staff is a priority and all staff have free access to the gym and Leisure Centre, free breakfast each day, free lunch every day for completing one half hour duty per week. Teaching staff have more than the standard 10% PPA time and benefit from the Professional Development opportunities afforded by being part of the Challenge Partners Network of Excellence and the newly formed Skinners Academies Trust.

The school sits within the beautiful coastal town of New Romney on the edge of the Romney Marsh walking distance from the beach. Nearby towns of Ashford, Folkestone and the City of Canterbury offer extensive shopping and leisure facilities. Ashford is also home to the International Railway Station offering a 35 minute journey to London and the Eurostar. The Eurotunnel terminal is a 20 minute drive from New Romney and the nearby Port of Dover, giving easy access to Europe. The Romney Marsh is a SSSI famous for its habitats ranging from the shingle expanse of Dungeness to the surrounding farmland and the diversity of the flora, fauna and wildlife.

These are exciting times at the Marsh Academy and we are keen to welcome your application.
