We are seeking to recruit a Family Support Worker to join our friendly, positive and forward-looking team.

As the Family Support Worker you will encourage, promote and enable parents and carers to engage with Oakley School to further support the wellbeing, engagement and progress of their child/children and young people.

The role also requires you to:-

  • Co-ordinate, support and promote parent and carer workshops, training and informal events,
  • Provide guidance and information to Oakley School families, in collaboration with external agencies and organisations,
  • Develop a Universal Parent/Carer Offer and differentiated support to meet needs across the School,
  • Promote the wellbeing of parents and carers by helping them to maximise their peer-to-peer support,
  • Work with and support the activities of our PTA, The Friends of Oakley,

Candidates will need 3+ years proven experience and a successful track record of working to support children and families in the public, education, voluntary or charity sectors and ideally a sound knowledge and understanding of childhood development and the parenting needs of children with SEN.  Excellent literacy, numeracy and IT skills are essential, along with strong communication and team working skills.

Candidates need to be willing and able to travel between our 3 sites and to external meetings, visits and training courses on a regular basis and the flexibility to support school events and activities outside of normal school hours.

The hours are 30 per week hours/days negotiable. The post is term time only; 38 weeks plus 5 staff training days.  The salary is Kent Range Band 5 (£22,595 per annum FTE) and reduced pro-rata for the hours/weeks worked.

Benefits include access to Kent Rewards (including discounts on everyday products and services), contributory pension scheme, free school meals, access to free counselling, free parking and other support services.  We are committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of all our staff.
