We have vacancies at present for both a co-opted and a local authority governor on our school board. A health and safety, finance or HR background or any previous experience of school governance would be helpful but by no means essential. We welcome applications from anyone who wants to get to know our school and play an active role in our governing body to hold the school to account to help secure the best possible education for our children.

We are an active governing body (10 in total) comprising of individuals from many different walks of life, some with a long-standing service to the governing body and others new and still learning about the role.

Thamesview School is a wonderful place to learn, situated on the edge of Gravesend and has many pupils classified as disadvantaged. Despite this, our children achieve very well, and our last Ofsted report rated us as “good”. At Thamesview we aim to work together in securing the best achievements for every one of our students. We place Teaching and Learning at the very core of everything we do and are committed to empowering students to become: aspirational, confident in learning, adaptable, creative, responsible

We meet as a full governing board four time a year, and governors are expected to sit on one of our three committees meeting four time a year. We also encourage governors to attend occasional training and to attend a learning walk around the school during the day, at least twice a year.
