Waterfront UTC is seeking to appoint a creative and enthusiastic Teacher of Construction/Engineering/3D Design to start with effect from September 2023 or January 2024.

Full time and part time applications will be considered.

Waterfront UTC is recruiting for a number of teaching roles due to their recent “Good” Ofsted outcome (January 2023) and exceptional growth in popularity. Waterfront UTC is expected to grow by 30% in September 2023, so this is a very exciting time to join the UTC.

Ofsted said: “Pupils are rightly proud to attend a school that prepares them well for the future”, and “Staff have high expectations for pupils’ learning and behaviour.”

You can find more on the recent Ofsted report here:

We are looking for someone who has the enthusiasm, energy, drive and experience to ensure that Waterfront UTC meets all our student needs and excels in this field to support our specialisms.

This post may be suitable for a new entrant to the profession, or for an experienced and unqualified teacher looking to gain further experience and train as a qualified teacher.

The salary for this role will be on the UQT/MPS/UPS scale. The school is offering a recruitment incentive of £5k. This is split into the following payments - £2.5k subject to the successful completion of a 6 month probationary period, and a further £2.5k to be paid in September '24 as a retention incentive. This is subject to the successful candidate remaining at the school for at least that next year. (These payments will be pro-rata'd for part time candidates).

Candidates are more than welcome to tour the school prior to interview. To arrange this, please contact the school on 01634 505800, or email office@waterfront-that.org.uk.

Information about the federation

The Howard Academy Trust started in Autumn 2015 and continues to grow.

We currently comprise of 3 secondary and 4 primary academies in Medway and Kent. We have future growth plans as a Multi Academy Trust with major projects taking place across the organisation. Our overarching aim and vision for our schools is “working together to create a community of successful learners”. In doing this, we will deliver an outstanding education for the children and young people who attend our academies. We endeavour to ensure that all our pupils have access to the highest standards of teaching, resources and opportunities.

The Trust’s role is to oversee the leadership and vision of member schools and to develop effective and supportive partnerships between them. We have a firm belief within the Trust that every child should have access to at least a good education. We are proud that every academy inspected since joining our Trust has remained as a Good school or improved their Ofsted Rating. Both Temple Mill Primary School and Waterfront UTC joined the Trust as sponsored academies and have moved from Special Measures to a Good school on their first inspection. Our schools serve their own community, and each has a unique identity. Being part of this Multi Academy Trust has already provided member schools with practical benefits. We want communities to be proud of their local THAT school and we are determined to make it the first choice for all families.
