We are seeking to appoint a Family Liaison Officer (FLO) who will develop and maintain positive relationships between the school and families. In addition to creating positive and lasting links, the FLO will promote good attendance and behaviour, and provide families with information needed to help access support from external agencies. The successful applicant will provide early intervention for children and young people at risk of not sustaining access to education, and developing an understanding the needs and barriers of all groups of children.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. To encourage an active partnership between children/parents/school by working creatively and positively with parents to achieve maximum involvement in their Childs’ education.
  2. To work in partnership with other professionals to promote a shared understanding of the issues impacting upon attendance and participation in education.
  3. Facilitate parents/carers’ understanding of arrangements for admission to school, induction arrangements and school policies/processes that impact on the education of children -to make all Schools policies and practices meaningful to parents.
  4. Develop and maintain networks with other professionals (including through Children’s Centres and professional development events) within an agreed locality in order to raise awareness of the needs of vulnerable groups and to extend knowledge of provision and developments.
  5. To be a point of contact and a source of information for parents about the range of support agencies which are available to support them
  6. Contribute to identifying and implementing a resolution for children and young people with complex needs, liaising with parents and supporting the SENCO.
  7. Contribute to school projects or initiatives that promote the involvement and consultation with parents and carers.
  8. To make home visits as and when required.
  9. Maintaining appropriate records of work related to individual children and other interventions with schools.

The post is for 23 hours per week and the arrangement of the hours will be discussed at the interview stage.

St Matthew's High Brooms Church of England Primary School, is a two-form entry Church of England primary school in a semi-urban area of Tunbridge Wells and Southborough. We have an extensive site and large outdoor areas.

At present there are approximately 360 children on roll. The school serves the community of High Brooms, St John's and Southborough.
