Our Year 1 pupils are going to have their own class (having been in mixed age classes in KS1) - they are excited to have a new teacher. Due to the wide range of needs some experience of Early Years or child initiated learning would be a big bonus.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, reflective and compassionate teacher to join our school in September. Our school is a friendly, but dedicated place to work where everyone is driven to provide the best possible life chances for our wonderful pupils.

We can offer you:

  • a village church school within close distance of Tonbridge and Maidstone.
  • supportive and friendly colleagues
  • our new addition of some ducks!!!
  • enthusiastic and caring pupils with supportive parents
  • a full programme of continued professional development
  • opportunities to develop your leadership skills
  • collaboration with other local schools
  • a caring governing body

Due to current budgeting constraints, this post is a fixed-term contract for one year. This will be renewed if budgets allow.

We would consider a job share if two suitably strong candiates were found.

Visits to the school are strongly encouraged - come and see us Learning, Growing, Achieving in action! Please contact us to arrange a mutually convenient time.

As a school committed to safeguarding children all staff members will undergo an enhanced DBS check and candidates will be assessed on their suitability to work with children.

Information about the school

Wateringbury Church of England Primary School (Voluntary Aided) is situated in the Medway Valley between Tonbridge and Maidstone. On the edge of the village it overlooks fields and the river valley on one side. It is banked on the other by a modern residential development. From our site adjoining the river and railway, our school has been serving the children of the village community and surrounding villages for more than 40 years. It is a vibrant and friendly school which is well supported by the local community.

Everything we do at Wateringbury is underpinned by our Christian values of Love, Respect, Forgiveness, Resilience, Courage and Joy. We enjoy strong links with St John the Baptist Church in Wateringbury and encourage children to take part in important community events such as Remembrance and St George’s Day as well as fundraising activities for local and international projects. Our developing curriculum is enhanced by a range of specialist-led clubs including, gymnastics, strings and drama as well as inspirational trips around the county to bring children’s learning to life.

In the summer of 2021 we expanded our Year 5 and Year 6 classrooms to give the children more space to learn and room to grow. We have also invested in the refurbishment of our library, which sits at the heart of our school, and created a safe space (Nurture Camp). We are fortunate to have wonderful school grounds surrounded by trees. There are dedicated playgrounds for KS1 and KS2, a large sports field, pond, wildlife area, container gardens and a large wooden gazebo for further outdoor learning.

We are part of a project working with the charity Nurture UK and our nurturing ethos is a huge part of who we are.
