As a result of Cornwallis Academy’s increasing popularity and excellent reputation in the local community, we are looking to appoint a highly driven and aspirational Teacher of Science on a full-time, permanent basis. The candidate will also hold a Teaching and Learning Responsibility for co-ordinating our Key-Stage 5 Science provision. The candidate should show a real passion for the subject and will be able to inspire students and staff. Our highly successful Science Department regularly deliver school record breaking results and were awarded the Kent Science Department of the year award 2018/19. Our Science Department consists of a team of skilled and motivated teachers.

You will be joining a well-resourced and popular department with a relentless focus on raising achievement. At present the Department teaches a full suite of Science subjects.  At Key Stage 4, AQA Triple Science is taught alongside AQA Trilogy combined science. At Key Stage 3 we offer a bespoke curriculum based on the AQA KS3 Science syllabus. At key stage 5 we offer A-levels in Biology, Chemistry and Physics alongside a Level 3 BTEC Extended Certificate in Applied Science. You will be supported within the department by the Director of Science, Key Stage leads for KS3 and 4, as well as a highly experienced Lead Practitioner of Science.

The person appointed would be managed on a day to day basis by the Director of Science and would be responsible for co-ordinating our provision at Key Stage 5. The person appointed would take on responsibility in Quality Assurance at Level 3 and would be expected to become the registered Lead Internal Verifier for BTEC Applied Science and Lead Teacher for A-level Science, with respect to the practical endorsement. This role is suitable for experienced teachers with a track record of teaching A-level or Level 3 BTEC Science and previous experience of engagement with Quality Assurance mechanisms. Our sixth form is expanding year-on-year with around 340 students currently enrolled.
