Advert

We are currently looking to recruit a Deputy Leader to support and assist the Nursery Leader for 19 hours a week initially on a 1 years fixed term contract (with the potential for a permanent position after this time).  You will ideally have a relevant early year’s qualification (level 3 or above).

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dedicated nursery team committed to delivering high quality childcare. You must be able to evidence proven abilities in all aspects of the role and have previously worked in a similar environment.  Our focus is on visual observations of children with minimal written observations thus ensuring that most of your time is spent on playing and caring for children.

You will support the Nursery Leader in the day to day running of the setting, taking responsibility for all aspects of development, ensuring staff are caring for the daily needs of the children to enhance their physical, intellectual, social and emotion development.  You will also liaise with the families of the children, professionals and outside agencies on a day to day basis.  Deputising for the Leader in their absence.

We would also love an experienced early years practitioner to adopt the role of SENCO where training will be provided (if required).  Please see full job description and person specification for more details.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a full and relevant early years and childcare qualification at Level 3 or above (such as NVQ Level 3 in CCLD, Level 3 Diploma for the Children & Young People’s Workforce) or equivalent qualification.
  • Have gained experience at least 2 years within a nursery setting, ideally as a Deputy or Room Leader
  • Have a good to excellent understanding of the EYFS.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of OFSTED policies and regulations.
  • Be nurturing, positive and dedicated practitioner.
  • Be passionate about learning and hardworking.
  • Be confident and willing to help plan and prepare high quality, age appropriate, fun and stimulating activities both indoors and outdoors supporting a child led curriculum to ensure that each child is working towards the early learning goals in line with the EYFS.
  • Give support to other personnel within the nursery and implement the daily routine.
  • Have a good knowledge of Child Protection, Safeguarding and Health & Safety policies and procedures.

Our setting is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.  All candidates much complete our Application Form and a Self-Declaration form to be considered for the role.  We are unable to accept CV’s.

All employment is offered subject to the completion of an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and 2 written references.

We will provide Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding and any other relevant training as may be required to work effectively within our amazing nursery.

Application question(s):

  • Are you qualified to at least level 3 in childcare, with relevant work experience in caring for children under the age of 5?
  • Do you find inspiration in the imaginations of 2, 3 and 4 year olds?
  • Can you find fulfilment in retelling a favourite story or fairy-tale?
  • Can you appreciate the magic in a muddy puddle?
  • Do you have the passion to plan in the moment?
  • Do you have a warm smiling face that makes every child feel special?
