Ebbsfleet Academy are seeking to appoint a passionate and motivated Food Technology Technician to provide technical support and assistance to our busy faculty.  Our Technicians play a key role in the smooth day-to-day running of our faculties so it is essential that our successful candidate is confident in providing assistance and student support in a classroom environment within this subject area.  This position is ideal for those seeking a career in the teaching profession as we can support you through the process, or those of you already experienced and seeking a collaborative and supportive working environment. As a part-time position, working 2 days per week, this would also be ideal for someone seeking an opportunity to work alongside their studies.

What we are looking for in our successful Food Technology Technician:

  • An academic qualification, at least to A Level but preferably to Degree level
  • If not an academic qualification, then experience working within a Food technology-related role would certainly be sufficient
  • Practical experience within a school environment would be advantageous
  • Good organisation and communication skills
  • The ability to work well as part of a team as well as independently

What we can offer in return:

  • An excellent opportunity for those strongly considering a career in teaching as training routes may be made available in the future
  • The opportunity to work within a faculty where our teaching staff are incredibly passionate about their subject area
  • The opportunity for training and development

Duties will include setting up equipment for practical lessons, stock taking, retrieving and putting away equipment along with any other duties deemed necessary by the faculty.

The basis of this role is permanent, 15 hours per week, Term Time + 1 weeks inset and offering an actual salary £7,913 - £8,298 per annum (£22,595 - £23,693 full-time equivalent), commensurate with experience.

Information about the school

Working with us: Ebbsfleet Academy is a dynamic and successful 11-18 Academy serving the local community. We have students of all abilities and from a wide variety of backgrounds, all of whom contribute to the richness of our school population.

At Ebbsfleet Academy our aim is to get the best out of every student; excellence in teaching and learning is therefore at the heart of our work. Our vision is based on three core values: ‘Be Ready, Work Hard, Be Nice’. In working towards instilling these values in our students, we strive to provide a safe, healthy and stimulating environment for all. Our curriculum is based around the needs of our students and consists of a rich blend of academic and vocational qualifications, all supported by fantastic learning resources including outstanding sports facilities, as well as modern, generously equipped classrooms, workshops and laboratories. All areas are served by excellent ICT facilities. Working together, in partnership with all stakeholders but especially parents and carers, we are creating a dynamic and innovative learning institution.

Our ambition is to ensure that all of our students achieve their potential, develop as courteous, confident and capable young people and leave with an education that has fully equipped them to go on to university or the career of their choice. Ebbsfleet Academy is proud to be a community school. As such we can cater specifically for the learning styles and social needs of our learners. Our curriculum allows students to develop socially, behaviourally and academically at their own pace and in their own unique ways. This reflects positively in our results.

Exam results are only one measure of success. We foster students’ wider interests and skills through a varied programme of extracurricular activities and student leadership opportunities, all of which are essential to nurturing potential outside the classroom. We have high expectations of everyone in our school. Our provision includes extension for the most able, as well as targeted support and intervention, to ensure all students achieve to the best of their ability and that they leave Ebbsfleet Academy equipped with the skills needed to excel in today’s world. By working in partnership with all stakeholders, especially parents and carers, we have created a dynamic and innovative learning environment.

As a proud member of Leigh Academies Trust, our leaders also benefit from wider collaboration across a community of highly successful leaders, with continued investment in staff a core value of the Trust and our academy.

Ofsted: Ebbsfleet Academy were pleased to receive a ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted, following a full inspection that took place in October 2019.

  • “The school is well led and managed. The new principal leads with determination and passion.”
  • “Pupils take pride in their work and their school”
  • “Staff expect the best from all pupils and are ambitious for them.”
  • “Teachers expect pupils to behave well. They deal quickly with poor behaviour.”
  • “Pupils say that bullying is rare and when it does happen, teachers sort it out quickly.”

Vision and values: Our vision is for Ebbsfleet Academy to become the number one school of choice in the local community. It is to be an oversubscribed school that children walk to, with their friends, a school to which they enjoy coming and one of which they feel proud.

Our vision is of a school characterised by outstanding teaching, lessons that inspire and ignite, where pupils and staff excel, and where the excellent exam results are merely the outcome of the outstanding teaching, rather than the aim in itself.

Our vision is of a school with the highest of standards and expectations, an orderly and respectful environment, of a school where relationships between staff and pupils are exceptionally positive and courteous, and a school where staff are highly fulfilled and feel valued.

Our vision is of a school where all the difficulties and disadvantages of the outside world are left at the school gate.

We have five academy values that underpin everything we do — respect, resilience, integrity, independence and confidence. We believe passionately that we can all achieve our goals and better our futures. We aim to promote in our pupils a strong culture of achievement, aspiration and ambition for success. We endeavour to develop independent, determined and self-motivated individuals, ready to learn for themselves.

"Our ambition is to ensure all our students achieve their potential & develop as courteous, confident and capable young people. Our curriculum is supported by fantastic learning resources with modern & generously equipped classrooms, ICT facilities, workshops and laboratories." - Principal Gurjit Kaur Shergill
