Are you looking for an exciting career opportunity in a friendly and supportive school environment?

We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to our hard working support team across our EYFS, Key stage 1 and 2 classes.  The positions are for a 2 year fixed term contract.  You will be providing support to groups of children within the classroom, across the curriculum, as well as delivering 1:1 support to individuals as part of our team around the child approach. All under the direction of the class teacher.

Successful candidates will need to have good personal organisation skills as well as the ability to use your own initiative and to work efficiently as part of a team to support our kind, happy and hard-working children. Candidates should have a good level of English and Maths skills in order to provide effective support which is responsive to the children’s needs. Experience of supporting children with reading (including phonics), writing and maths would be beneficial, although not essential, as would an awareness of how to promote and support positive pupil wellbeing and pupils with special educational needs.

We are looking for someone with a positive outlook, strong communication skills, a good sense of humour and a kind and caring nature who will help to bring out the very best in our children.

We will consider applications from candidates with a range of experience in working with children from those currently in similar jobs, candidates with Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualifications and those with voluntary experience in school settings. Training will be offered when required to help support career development. Successful candidates will be matched to suitable year groups.

In return we can offer you a supportive and caring team of teachers, support staff and governors, led by a strong and visionary team of school leaders. We value the importance of staff wellbeing and work hard to create a happy and positive environment in which to learn and work.

This post is for a 2 year fixed term contract starting on the 1st September 2023. The hours of work are 26.25 per week, term time only working between 8:45am to 3pm with 1 hour for lunch (unpaid).

The attached job description provides further details.

The closing date for applications is 22 June 2023 and dates of interviews will be advised upon shortlisting.  However, we will consider early applications before the closing date and would encourage you to apply as soon as possible. Positions are subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks including DBS checks.

Information about the school

Welcome to Godinton Primary School.

When you step inside our school, you will find an exciting environment of creativity and discovery, where children’s natural curiosity is stimulated and their capacity to learn is nurtured. We are very proud of our ethos, which provides a supportive, family atmosphere with an emphasis on ensuring that our children are happy and confident individuals who love coming to school.

At Godinton Primary School, our team works hard to provide every child with a well-rounded education, enabling them to reach their full potential and succeed wherever their strengths and skills may lie. We strive for academic excellence in our pupils but believe that this should be delivered alongside an enriching and creative curriculum.

We enjoy stand-alone Academy status and have been graded as GOOD by Ofsted at our last inspection (March 2018).

Tucked safely away on the Godinton Park Estate, its only when you step within the school gate that you can fully appreciate the school’s privileged outside space.

Our school grounds are both extensive and beautiful, stretching around the entire building and providing a wonderful natural backdrop. Children at Godinton benefit from vast playing fields, adventure play areas, two playgrounds and a thriving wildlife garden and environmental area. A broad area of woodland, also within the grounds, provides an inspiring space for curriculum enrichment, as a stimulus for poetry or creative writing or as the location for scientific nature trails.

We look forward to welcoming you to our school, where you can see for yourself what a special place Godinton Primary School is.

Miss Jill Talbot
