Science Technician

Salary: TSAT Pay Group 4 £18,333 - £21,506 for hours and weeks stated (FTE £25743- £30198)

Contract: Permanent.  30 hours per week, 39 weeks (Term Time plus 5 days)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Science Technician to join the Science team at Goodwin Academy.  The successful candidate will provide general, practical support in science laboratories, including setting up and monitoring systems in the management and control of practical resources.  They will ensure the Science area meets Health and Safety requirements, and will undertake training to remain aware of current H&S developments within the Science arena.

The successful candidate will assist in practical classes, carrying out demonstrations, preparing resources and assembling apparatus as required.   They will assist in managing the day-to-day running of workshops and will prepare equipment and materials for lessons/examinations /controlled assessments in safe, clean working conditions, for use by teachers and students.  Provide practical support for students in science lessons.  They will also conduct risk assessments for technician activities, give technical advice to teachers and pupils, lead on stock control, ordering, etc and participate in extended services, after school clubs as required.
