We have an exciting new opportunity to expand pastoral care at Mersham Primary School. Working alongside our existing Pastoral Lead, we are looking to appoint a caring individual who is passionate about working with young people to break down barriers to learning.

Ideally, we are looking for someone who has some previous experience of working with pupils on a singular or group basis and supporting them in addressing barriers to learning, raising aspirations and achieving their full potential. Ideally, this includes knowledge and experience of nurture provision in school.  The role also involves working with parents/carers and families to provide early intervention, support and guidance to increase engagement with the school and improve learning outcomes for pupils.

The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to develop positive, sensitive relationships with children, particularly those who are vulnerable. They will also need to work effectively with parents and other members of the school community.

The successful candidate will be required to work 32.5 hours per week (8:30am to 3:30pm Monday to Friday, term time only + staff development days). The role also includes supervising children at lunchtime.

Visits to the school are highly recommended before application. Please contact the school office to arrange.

Mersham Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. Successful candidates will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check.

Mersham Primary School will also carry out an online search as part of their due diligence on any shortlisted candidates. This may help identify any incidents or issues that have happened, and are publicly available online, which we might want to explore with an applicant at interview. This information will be kept on file for 6 months, in line with data protection procedures. The panel will ensure we meet our duty under the Equality Act, 2010. Mersham Primary School is an equal opportunities employer and positively encourages applications from suitable qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status or pregnancy and maternity.
