Information about the school

High Halstow Primary Academy is an over -subscribed one form entry village primary school. Pupils are hard working and respectful and parents and carers work closely with us to ensure our pupils receive the best opportunities.

The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme is integral to our curriculum. We aim for our pupils to become well-rounded, lifelong learners and global citizens that are ready for secondary school and beyond.

The school is fortunate to have fantastic indoor and outdoor environments to enhance the learning opportunities for the pupils. Additionally, all KS1 and KS2 pupils have access to a 1:1 device which enables staff to further adapt teaching and learning experiences. The academy is an Ofsted Graded ‘good’ school with ambitions to be outstanding. Leigh Academies Trust provides outstanding opportunities for staff to work collaboratively as well as receiving high-quality professional development at all stages of the career journey.

We have been graded as a “good school” by Ofsted in 2014:-

  • Most pupils make good progress and achieve well in most subjects. Some make exceptional progress from their starting points.
  • The school is improving because the headteacher, staff and governors make good use of information on how well pupils make progress to improve teaching and learning.
  • Achievement in reading has improved. Most pupils learn to read quickly and reach the expected levels because phonics (the sounds letters make) is taught well. Pupils who fall behind are effectively supported and catch up quickly.
  • Teaching and learning are good overall and some teaching is outstanding over time. Most teachers have high expectations of the pupils and teach interesting lessons. Pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is good.
  • Pupils are proud of their school and attendance has improved, so that it is now above the national average. This has helped improve the progress pupils make.

Our vision and values: High Halstow Primary Academy has at its core the pursuit of the highest standards possible in education.

We believe in high aspirations, high motivation and high achievement for all. Through our extended curriculum we seek to meet the needs of the individual.

We aim to build a community where everyone feels equally valued, safe and challenged to do their best in everything.

We are committed to ensuring the very best for our children in order for them to play a significant part in society.

"We believe in the huge potential of our pupils and focus relentlessly on high aspirations and high achievement. We recognise for some this could be in academic subjects whilst for others their strengths could lie in other areas such as sports and the arts." - Principal Gemma Stangroom
