Ebbsfleet Academy are seeking to appoint a Director of Learning - PE to join their highly collaborative and friendly team. This is a truly exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher to take the next steps in their career and contribute to delivering world-class education to our students across all key stages.

Joining us from September 2023, our Director of Learning will bring with them passion, experience and the capacity to inspire and motivate students and staff. The ideal candidate will also have experience in developing a highly successful and engaging co-curricular curriculum to inspire and motivate, and have experience in developing and maintaining strong partnerships with local community groups and organisations. This role is ideal for those seeking career progression and who have a keen interest in joining a successful secondary academy with state-of-the-art facilities. 

As DoL of Physical Education, you will lead a curriculum team that is committed to:

  • Advocating exercise as part of a healthy lifestyle.
  • Promoting Physical and Health Education as central to the school experience.
  • Exemplifying the values of respect, integrity, scholarship, ambition and resilience, whilst actively encouraging enjoyment and sportsmanship.
  • Building positive relationships between pupils, staff, parents and carers and the local community.

You will be responsible for securing the best possible outcomes for our students. The successful candidate will work to shape a modern and inclusive Physical Education programme, promoting fitness for life and exploiting the latest thinking in sports science to benefit and inspire pupils of all abilities.​​​​​​​

What we will expect of you: Our appointed candidate will successfully lead this group of curriculum areas, and you will play a key role in inspiring the staff, as well as our students with your outstanding leadership. We will also expect you to successfully plan and deliver outstanding lessons on a daily basis that challenge our students and significantly advance their learning. We anticipate you will achieve this by being passionate about your subject and transferring your knowledge in a creative and efficient way in the classroom.

Information about the school

Being part of Leigh Academies Trust: As of 1st September 2022, our Trust comprises 30 geographically organised academies (14 secondaries, 14 primaries and 2 special) educating 20,000 students, and employing 3,000 talented staff. The Trust is establishing four ‘clusters’ of academies: North Kent; Central Kent; South East London; Medway.
